A Tiny Oracle Feature That Saves Me Time

I see it happen very often. Someone opens "Inquire on Detail Balances" in Oracle Fusion, carefully fills in every field—ledger, currency, period, LE, etc. They hit "Search," review the results, and close the page. An hour later, they need the same query. So they do it all over again. Every. Single. Field. I used to do this too, until I stumbled on something that changed my workflow.

The Discovery

One day, while clicking around the interface, I noticed a button I'd overlooked: "Save Search."

I was curious. I filled in my usual criteria, clicked "Save," gave it a name, and moved on.

The next time I needed that query, there it was—sitting in the dropdown. I selected it, hit "Search," and everything populated automatically.

Even better: I could set one as my default, so it loads automatically whenever I open the page.

Ten seconds to save. Hours saved over time.

Why Don't More People Use This?

I think it's easy to overlook. Oracle Fusion is packed with features. When you're focused on getting the data you need, you're not thinking about optimizing how you get it.

But that's exactly when these small features matter most.

When you're running the same balance inquiry five times a week, or checking intercompany values at month-end, those saved searches quietly make your day smoother.

A Small Habit, Big Impact

Now, whenever I see someone manually re-entering the same search criteria, I recommend saving it. The reaction is almost always the same: "Wait, why wasn't I using this before?"

It's not groundbreaking. But it's one of those tiny changes that quietly improves your workflow without much effort.

If you run the same queries regularly, take ten seconds to save them. You'll thank yourself later.
